There are bread machines on the market that have a specific menu option for making low carbohydrate bread, and I provide some examples in this buying guide. I look at bread machines with low-carb menu programs from brand names such as Breadman, Cuisinart, and Hamilton Beach. Keep reading to find out which bread machines have a Low Carb or Keto Bread menu program.
Which ingredients have a lower carbohydrate content?
Grain products such as bread contain starchy carbohydrates. Starch is made from glucose, which is the main sugar the human body uses for its energy needs.
Bread contains a lot of starch, which is quickly broken down by digestive processes into glucose. This causes blood sugar to rise quickly, which is why bread has a high glycemic index.
White breads, which are made from finely ground wheat flour, have a higher glycemic index than whole wheat or flax meal bread. Whole grain bread contains more of the wheat protein called gluten and therefore a little less carbohydrates.
The following ingredients are common in low carbohydrate bread recipes:
- almond flour
- almond milk
- butter
- cheese
- coconut flour
- eggs
- herbs
- nuts
- oil
- seeds
- soy flour
Fruit such as bananas and raisins contain fructose sugar, which make them higher carbohydrate ingredients.
I guess that means no more nibbling on banana bread for a treat. Sigh.

Cuisinart CBK-210 With Low-Carb Program
The Cuisinart CBK-210 convection bread machine appears to be the successor to the popular but now discontinued Cuisinart CBK-200.
This versatile appliance simplifies homemade bread making with its automatic fruit and nut dispenser, customizable settings, and convection heating.
The automatic dispenser evenly distributes extra ingredients throughout doughs. The Custom Memory function allows you to manually adjust cycles to suit any recipe. Convection baking circulates air for superior texture and crust.

Discontinued Bread Makers With Low-Carb Options
Most of the bread machines that had a low-carb menu option are now no longer available. Nevertheless, I will keep them in this buying guide, and you can still see them in the sections below.
Breadman BK1050S Collapsible Paddle Bread Machine
The Breadman BK1050S is a bread maker with a single collapsible kneading paddle, which a very rare feature (I reviewed the BK1050S here).
The low-carb option probably makes adjustments for making bread with lower carbohydrate ingredients.
You might buy a low-carb bread maker bread mix at a store, or you can try to use a low-carb bread machine recipe.
The loaf size cannot be changed for the low-carb cycle. The loaf size is preset to a two pound size, thus you should use a low-carb bread maker recipe for a 2-lb bread loaf.
The Breadman BK1050S has a collapsible kneading paddle, which is not my most favorite feature on a bread machine. Nevertheless, if you do not mind working with a bread maker that has a collapsible kneading paddle, then the BK1050S might not be a bad choice.
Breadman TR2500BC Ultimate Plus
The Breadman TR2500BC has multiple baking and dough kneading cycles, including a low-carb course for making low carbohydrate bread loaves.
You add the ingredients for the low-carb bread recipe into the bread pan. You select the Low Carb course to make the bread loaf.
The crust color and loaf size cannot be changed on the low-carb option of the TR2500BC. It is preset to a 2-pound bread loaf with a medium crust color.
The use and care manual of the Breadman TR2500BC contains three low-carb recipes:
- low-carb white bread
- low-carb cinnamon raisin bread
- low-carb chocolate cake
The TR2500BC can also knead and bake gluten-free bread. It can handle 1, 1.5 and 2-pound loaf sizes. It features crust color selection for a light, medium or dark crust.
Other fine features are its automatic fruit and nut dispenser, a 24-hour baking delay timer, as well as a convection fan for better crust color.
You may read my Breadman TR2500BC review for more information on its features and advantages.
Breadman TR2700 Convection Bread Machine
The Breadman TR2700 bread maker, which is no longer available for purchase, baked loaves in 1, 1.5, and 2-pound sizes in its nonstick pan. It offered settings for light, medium, or dark crusts and a convection feature for superior bread crusts. The TR2700 had preset menus for Whole Wheat, Low Carb, Jam, Dough, Pizza Dough and Bake Only cycles. An automatic fruit and nut dispenser allowed hands-free addition of ingredients like raisins or nuts. Other features included a 24-hour delay-bake timer and a 1-hour keep-warm cycle.
Cuisinart CBK-200 Convection Bread Machine
The Cuisinart CBK-200 bread machine features a convection fan for getting crispier crust results. You are able to choose a 1, 1.5 or 2-pound loaf setting and a light, medium or dark crust color.
The CBK-200 has sixteen preset menu options, which includes a low-carb setting. Low carbohydrate bread loaves have a low sugar content, and the CBK-200’s low-carb setting is adapted to this. It does not knead the dough too much, and it does not bake too short.
Extra nuts or seeds should be added at the beginning with the rest of the ingredients when using the low-carb setting. There is no audible tone for reminding you to add nuts or seeds to the dough when using the low-carb program. However, there is still an audible tone that reminds you to remove the nonstick kneading paddle (if you want to do that).
The CBK-200’s instruction booklet contains the following low-carb bread recipes:
- bacon and cheese bread
- seed bread
- molasses bread
- cinnamon bread
- buttermilk bread
- nutty low-carb bread
Please note that the dough setting does not work for making low carbohydrate or gluten-free dough recipes.
This Cuisinart convection bread machine does not have an automatic fruit and nut dispenser. It does have a 12-hour delay timer and a power-failure backup.
You can read this Cuisinart CBK-200 review for an in-depth discussion of its features, advantages and disadvantages.
