A loaf of bread can disappear very quickly when you have a large family. If you are going to use a bread machine to bake bread for many mouths, then you need a bread maker that is able to handle a large or even extra large loaf size. Here are a few of these kitchen appliances that bake bread on a bigger scale.
Three Bread Machines That Bake Large Loaves
We have chosen three of the most popular bread machines that can bake loaf sizes that are larger than 2 pounds. We discuss the basic features of the following bread makers: Panasonic SD-YD250, Breville BBM800XL and Black & Decker B6000C.
Panasonic SD-YD250: 2.5-Pound Loaf
The Panasonic SD-YD250 can mix, knead, rise and bake bread loaves ranging from 1.5 pounds up to 2.5 pounds, which is good for large families. The control panel has an LCD digital display with buttons for selecting loaf size, crust color and cooking function.
The menu settings are: Basic, Whole Wheat, Multi-Grain, French, Pizza, Cake, Bake Only, Rapid Bake, Raisin (which gives an audible signal so you may add raisins or nuts) Sandwich, Pizza Dough, Rolls and Raisin Dough.
The removable baking pan has a nonstick coating and a handle for easier bread removal and cleaning. It has a normal kneading paddle. It does not have a viewing window in the lid which may increase heat distribution inside the baking chamber for better dough rises and for producing a better crust with better color.
The automatic yeast dispenser keeps the yeast separate from the other ingredients until it is added automatically. Other features are the 13-hour delay timer, 10-minute power-interruption protection and safety fuse.

Breville BBM800XL: 2.5-Pound Loaf
The Breville BBM800XL bread maker has a fruit and nut dispenser for automatically adding extra ingredients to the dough. Its collapsible kneading paddle is designed to fold down after the mixing and kneading is completed to minimize the hole left in the bottom of a loaf.
The LCD screen displays these menu presets: Custom, Basic, Whole Wheat, Rapid, Gluten Free, Crusty Loaf, Sweet, Yeast Free, Dough, Pizza, Pasta, Bake Only and Jam. It also displays the chosen crust color, loaf size (up to 2.5 pounds), the cycle time remaining and a progress indicator.
